Jennifer Smart, DPT

I currently live in rural, eastern NC where I work as an outpatient Physical Therapist, I teach group exercise classes for people with Parkinson's Disease and I am on the faculty of the Postural Restoration Institute, getting to travel and teach their continuing education course that delves into sensory integration and the Autonomic Nervous System.
I indeed have a special interest in people with Parkinson's Disease and have ran a tandem bike program, a boxing program and a retreat for PWPD. I have also attended the World Parkinson's Congress several times. It is an exciting time to be learning about this disease, although exhausting trying to keep up with the science!
When I am not working, I am outside. I have spent a great deal of time sailing small boats across big oceans and either hiking or riding my bicycle across large swaths of geography. I love fairly primitive traveling and visiting countries where I don't know the language.

I utilize PWR!Moves in both my one-on-one therapy sessions and have incorporated many of the PWR! progressions and activities into the exercise classes that I teach.
